About Us
The Burton Big Band was formed in the 1960s by ex-professional trumpet player Les Coates. His idea was to perpetuate music of the Swing Era in the face of the pop culture which threatened to take over the music scene. Although the original band members were local to Burton Upon Trent, England, over the decades it has welcomed players and vocalists from all over the Midlands.
Music brings people together and bridges generations. We want our concerts and appearances to contribute to this togetherness and we all love to play.
Our Music
In 2014 we had the privilege to record a CD of some of our cfavourite numbers with Terry Bracey, a local ex-BBC sound engineer.
